Olga Piccolo is the director and artistic leader of the Piccolo Children’s Music Academy and the Piccolo Music School in St. Petersburg, Ozerki, and Pushkin, and the director of the Piccolo International Family Summer Music Camp. She trained at the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College and later at the Petrozavodsk branch of the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, specializing in musicology. She also completed additional studies in public speaking at the Theatre Arts Academy.
Her career began in music theory education and concert work at several children’s music schools, followed by her early work as an MC for children’s programs at the Philharmonic Hall in Petrozavodsk. In 1999 she founded the Piccolo Children’s Music Lecture Hall, which grew into a well-known educational and creative platform for young audiences.
Piccolo is the author of several original projects, including Tales of Musical Instruments and Music of Sand Stories. These productions combine fragments of classical music with traditional and original fairy tales, enriched by live sand animation. Her method focuses on engaging children through storytelling, visual imagery, and direct emotional connection to music.
Since 2018 her productions have been presented with symphony orchestras, including the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, the North Ossetian State Philharmonic, the Pskov Philharmonic, and the Governor’s Orchestra of the Ryazan Philharmonic. Alongside her performances, she has created more than forty recorded musical fairy-tale programs for young listeners.
Olga Piccolo’s work aims to cultivate curiosity, imagination, and a lifelong interest in classical music among children and families.
