Andrei Maksimov
Austria-based baritone Andrei Maksimov is a versatile performer with a broad repertoire spanning lyric and lyric-dramatic roles. Born in St. Petersburg, he graduated from the St. Petersburg State Conservatory and holds a Master’s degree from the Bern Academy of the Arts. He continued his professional training at the Mariinsky Theatre’s Young Singers Academy, the Teatro Comunale di Modena, the Berlin Opera Academy, and the Opera Studio of the Opéra national du Rhin.
From 2024 to 2026, Maksimov was a member of the Opera Studio of the Wiener Staatsoper, where he appeared in Roméo et Juliette, Billy Budd, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Giovanni, Madama Butterfly, and Rusalka. His repertoire includes Masetto, Fiorello, Paris, Donald, Yamadori, the Hunter, Don Magnifico, Mandarin, Guglielmo, Giorgio Germont, Escamillo, and Count Almaviva.
His international engagements include performances at the Opéra national du Rhin, Opéra de Chambre de Genève, Auditorium Rainier III in Monte Carlo, and Wiener Festspiele. In Monte Carlo, he made his role debut as Masetto in Don Giovanni under Bertrand de Billy. In 2026, he makes his debut in the title role of Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Wiener Festspiele.
Maksimov is a prizewinner of several international competitions, including the George Enesco Vocal Competition in Paris, the Concorso Lirico Portofino, and the Hans Staud Musikpreis in Vienna. Alongside his operatic career, he is active as a composer and performer of contemporary music.
