Ivan Maslov
Ivan Maslov is an Austrian bass who completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), graduating with distinction. His artistic foundation was shaped early through the Vienna Boys’ Choir, with whom he toured internationally, developing exceptional stage discipline and musical sensitivity from a young age.
Maslov has already built a repertoire spanning both vocal amplitude and dramatic range. His operatic roles include Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Agamemnon in Iphigénie en Tauride, Bertran in Iolanta, as well as Il Commendatore and Leporello in Don Giovanni. He recently performed Agamemnon and Gremin at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn.
In summer 2026, Maslov made several important Vienna debuts at the Vienna Opera Festival: Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, as well as Sparafucile and Monterone in Rigoletto, in a production directed by Tim Claydon and conducted by Toby Purser. These performances mark an important step in the development of his operatic repertoire and his emergence on the Vienna opera scene.
In the 2026/27 season, Maslov joins the Mittelsächsische Theater und Philharmonie, where his roles include Der Tod in Viktor Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis oder die Todverweigerung and Gerichtsrat Walter in Der zerbrochene Krug. Alongside his operatic work, he is an active concert singer, with experience spanning opera, Lied, and oratorio.
Maslov’s achievements have been recognized at international competitions. He is a First Prize winner of the Caneres International Music Competition in Vienna and has been a laureate of the Osaka International Competition and the International Stravinsky Competition. He has also received Second Prizes at the Olga Sosnovskaya Young Vocalists Contest and the B. T. Shtokolov International Vocal Competition, as well as First Prize at the International Vocal Competition “Star Rhapsody.”
With a commanding stage presence, refined musical intelligence, and a rapidly expanding repertoire, Ivan Maslov is establishing himself as a promising young bass with a strong foundation for an international opera career.
